Integrate Anrok & Campfire

Introduction

Campfire is an Anrok-approved billing partner integration. This guide outlines the process for successfully linking your Campfire billing system with Anrok. This integration will allow you to automatically synchronize transactions and update sales tax on Campfire invoices.

Step 1

Update Accounting Settings in Anrok

Before connecting Campfire to your Anrok account, you must update your Accounting settings. This step is critical for tracking real-time updates accurately between Anrok and Campfire.

  2. Next to Accounting, click Edit, then select the time zone that matches your Campfire account.
    • Unless specified otherwise, your Campfire time zone is America/Los Angeles. 
  3. When you are finished, click Save.

 


 

Step 2

Generate an Anrok API key

To connect with Anrok, you will need to provide Campfire with your Anrok API key. Providing this key ensures that your Campfire and Anrok accounts will be able to communicate effectively.

  1. In the Anrok app CleanShot 2023-07-20 at 12.02.21@2x.png, go to Settings. Take me there!
  2. Under Developers, click Manage API Keys.
  3. Click New key, then in the Notes field, enter Anrok-Campfire API Key.
  4. Click Create key, then copy  anrok_copy.png  the API Key.
    • Save this value in a password manager or secure environment in case you need it at a later date.
  5. When you are finished, click Ok.

 


 

Step 3

Connect Anrok to Campfire

After you’ve enabled Anrok through Campfire's support team and generated an Anrok API key, you can connect Anrok to your Campfire account.

  1. In the Campfire app campfire_final.png, navigate to  Settings > Connections > Anrok. Take me there!
  2. Under Anrok, find New Connection.
  3. On the module that appears: 
    • For name, we suggest Anrok-Campfire API Key.
    • For API key, enter the Anrok API key created in Step 2.
    • For entity, select the single entity you are connecting to Anrok. 
      • If you have multiple entities and are unsure of which to connect, contact Anrok for assistance.
    • Click Save
    • Campfire should now display a new API connection on your Anrok connections page.

Anrok is now connected to and set as your tax provider in Campfire, but your integration is not quite  finished. Next, you'll create and configure Product IDs in Anrok to map products between these two systems.

 


 

Step 4

Create Product IDs in Anrok

In Anrok, your Campfire products will be grouped into Anrok Product IDs. These Product IDs are the key drivers for calculating taxability. See What are Product IDs?

To simplify setup, Anrok recommends grouping your products into one Product ID per each tax category.

If you have 10 products that all fall under tax category SaaS - General, B2B, then create a single Anrok Product with a descriptive ID, like b2b-saas-general. You can re-use this ID for all 10 products in Campfire that share the SaaS - General tax category.

  2. Click Add product.
  3. Under Product ID, create a unique Product ID.
  4. Under Product name, enter the name for your product.
    • Reminder: a singular Anrok Product ID that groups many of your Campfire items will reduce the number of Product IDs you need to create. This can also simplify mapping these Product IDs to Campfire in Step 5.
  5. Under Assign a tax configuration, select a corresponding Product type and Tax category for each product. See Available tax categories for Product IDs.
  6. When you are finished, click Save.

 


 

Step 5

Map Product IDs to Campfire

Now that you have created Product IDs in Anrok for each tax category group your company uses, apply those Product IDs as Product Anrok IDs in Campfire.

When integrating Campfire with Anrok, each product in Campfire must have an Anrok Product ID in the Product Anrok ID field.  Make sure to copy the exact Product IDs from Anrok to avoid errors during mapping.

  1. In the Campfire app campfire_final.png, go to Settings > Products and Services. Take me there!
  2. For your existing products, select edit for each product. 
    • Select the checkbox next to CleanShot 2023-07-31 at 11.51.24@2x.png  Is Taxable?
    • In the Anrok Product ID field, assign an Anrok Product ID to the product.
    • Select Save Product
  3. Repeat Step 2 for all Products listed in your Campfire catalog.

 


 

Step 6

Import historical transactions (Optional)

Importing your historical transactions will be key to maintaining a complete picture of your economic nexus and tax exposure. 

After creating an Anrok connection in Campfire, you can download your Campfire transactions to import them to Anrok. 

  1. In the Campfire app campfire_final.png, navigate to  Settings > Connections > Anrok. Take me there!
  2. Select Download Transactions. 
    • Review this export if needed to delete any unwanted transactions before your import to Anrok.
  3. In the Anrok app CleanShot 2023-07-20 at 12.02.21@2x.png, backfill historical transactions to Anrok by importing them from a file source in your Anrok Data sources tab

Congratulations! Your Anrok to Campfire connection is complete.
