Introduction
This guide outlines the process for linking your Tabs account with Anrok. This will allow you to automatically synchronize transactions to Anrok and update sales tax on your Tabs invoices.
Does Tabs sync to your ERP, like NetSuite or QuickBooks? If so, configure your Tabs items to ensure that sales tax is appropriately sent from Tabs to your ERP before you begin calculating tax via Anrok.
Step 1
Update your Accounting setting
Before connecting Tabs to your Anrok account, you must update your Anrok Accounting settings to align to your Tabs timezone. This step is critical for tracking real-time updates between Anrok and Tabs.

In the Anrok app
, go to Settings. Take me there!
- Next to Accounting, click Edit, then select the time zone that matches your Tabs account.
- When you are finished, click Save.
Step 2
Create Product IDs in Anrok
In Anrok, you can create tax categories called product IDs.Product ID
They describe the taxability of a product or service that was sold to your customer.
Each product ID you sell must be mapped to a corresponding tax configuration in Anrok, which signals what taxability ruleset to apply to the product. These product IDs are the key driver for calculating taxability. See What are product IDs?
If you have existing integration items in Tabs, now is the time to create Product IDs to group your Tabs items based on taxability.

In the Anrok app
, go to Product IDs. Take me there!
- Click Add product.

Under Product name, enter the name for your Tabs integration item or grouping of items.
- To simplify, Anrok recommends creating one Product ID for each tax category in your company's product catalog. A singular Anrok Product ID that groups many of your Tabs items will reduce the number of Product IDs you need to create. This can also simplify mapping these Product IDs to Tabs items.
- Example: if you sell 12 Tabs items all within the Anrok B2B SaaS General tax category, a single Product ID of
b2b-saas-general
can be created and applied to all of those items in Tabs.
- Under Product ID, create a new tax grouping for your products.
- Under Assign a tax configuration, select a corresponding Product type and Tax category for each product. See Select a tax configuration.
- When you are finished, click Save.
Tip
For small product catalogs or if you require high specificity for your Anrok transaction list, you can create a 1:1 mapping of Product IDs to Tabs items if that is your company's preference.
Step 3
Generate an Anrok API key
To connect with Anrok, you will need to provide Tabs with your Anrok API key. Providing this key ensures that your Anrok and Tabs accounts will be able to communicate effectively.

In the Anrok app
, go to Settings. Take me there!
- Under Developers, click Manage API Keys.
- Click New key, then in the Notes field, enter a title indicating this is your Tabs integration key.

Click Create key, then copy
the Key ID and Secret. Tip: Save these values in a password manager or secure environment in case you need them at a later date.
- When you are finished, click Ok.
Step 4
Connect Tabs to Anrok
Once you’ve created your Anrok Product IDs and generated an Anrok API key, you can connect your Tabs account to Anrok.
This step will initiate tax calculation by Anrok for your Tabs invoices. If your company is not yet ready for Anrok to calculate tax for invoices, do not proceed with the remainder of this guide. Save your API key from Step 3 in a secure location until your company is ready to calculate tax with Anrok.

, navigate to the Integrations page from the side navigation menu. Take me there!
- Scroll down to the Tax section of the page, and click Connect in the Anrok tile.
- Enter your Anrok API key .
- Click Connect.
Step 5
Map Anrok Products to Tabs
Map your Tabs integration items to your Anrok Product IDs. Anrok recommends keeping a tab open to your Anrok Product IDs so you can easily reference them during this step in Tabs.
- In the Tabs app
, go to Integrations > Anrok > Manage. Take me there!
- Identify any integration items without a Product ID. This indicates that the item is not mapped to an Anrok Product ID.
- Assign a Product ID: This will ensure that the item is taxed properly on the Tabs invoice according to the tax requirements of the assigned Product ID.
- Anrok provides a N/A – non-taxable product category to use on Anrok Product IDs for any Tabs item that should be untaxed.
- Tabs provides the option to bulk upload your Product ID categorization into Tabs. For more information, see Tabs' Knowledge Center guide to bulk upload Tabs Integration Items.
Congratulations! Your integration is now complete. You are now ready to use Anrok as your tax engine for new invoices in Tabs. Please continue through the remaining steps to ensure that tax is calculated for all Tabs items and to import any historical transactions you may need to Anrok.
