Introduction
This guide outlines the process for linking your Orb account with Anrok. This will allow you to automatically synchronize transactions and update sales tax to your Orb invoices.

Step 2
Generate an Anrok API key
To connect with Anrok, you will need to provide Orb with your Anrok account's API key. Providing this key ensures that your Anrok and Orb accounts will be able to communicate effectively.

Step 4
Create Product IDs in Anrok
In Anrok, your Orb offerings will be called product IDsProduct ID
They describe the product or service that was sold to your customer. Product IDs are passed to Anrok from your billing system as the product(s) you are including on the invoice.
Each Product ID you sell must be mapped to a corresponding tax configuration in Anrok, which signals what taxability ruleset to apply to the product.. These product IDs are the key driver for calculating taxability. It's important that you add your Orb products and services into Anrok. See What are product IDs?
Tip
To simplify setup, Anrok recommends grouping your products into one Product ID per each tax category.
If you have 10 products that all fall under tax category SaaS - General, B2B, then create a single Anrok Product with a descriptive ID, like b2b-saas-general. You can re-use this ID for all 10 products in Orb that share the SaaS - General tax category.
Try adding your Orb items in the demo above ☝️
-
In the Anrok app
, go to Product IDs. Take me there!
- Click Add product.
- Under Product ID, create a unique Product ID. These IDs are flexible and you can choose what works best for your business.
- Tip: We recommend making these descriptive of the tax category you will assign, i.e. 'saas-general-b2b' or 'pro-serv-mandatory'.
- Under Product name, enter the name for your product.
- Reminder: a singular Anrok Product ID that groups many of your Orb items will reduce the number of Product IDs you need to create. This can also simplify mapping these Product IDs to Orb in Step 5.
- Under Assign a tax configuration, select a corresponding Product type and Tax category for the product. See Select a tax configuration.
- When you are finished, click Save.
Step 5
Map Product IDs to Orb items
When integrating with Anrok, each item in Orb must be mapped to one of the Anrok Product IDs you created in Step 4. Orb supports this mapping by allowing you to create add external item IDs for each of your Orb items.

-
In the Orb app
, go to Settings > Items. Take me there!
- Select an item, then click Edit.
- Under External item ID, enter the Anrok Product ID you created in Step 4 that will associate the relevant tax categorization for this Orb item.
- When you are finished, click Save.
Step 6

Importing your historical transactions will be key to maintaining a complete picture of your economic nexus exposure. To import your Orb transactions into Anrok, you will need to reach out to Orb support through your company's Slack channel or by emailing team@withorb.com.
Step 7
Add VAT IDs to your customer records
Adding a VAT IDVAT ID
