Introduction
Some filing jurisdictions require sellers to make prepayments of sales tax ahead of the full return due date. Anrok calculates these prepayment amounts automatically based on the requirements of each jurisdiction. Prepayment types vary by jurisdiction:
- Quarterly and annual prepayments — Some jurisdictions require prepayments toward a quarterly or annual return. For example, Chicago prepayments apply to the quarterly return, and New York prepayments apply to the annual return.
- Monthly prepayments — Other jurisdictions require prepayments toward the following month's return. For example, Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, and Ohio use this model.
There are situations where you may want to override a prepayment amount if your calculated liability differs from what Anrok has estimated. Anrok allows you to change a prepayment amount before filing.
Edit a prepayment amount
You can edit a prepayment amount to override Anrok's calculation before the return is auto-approved for filing.
Try editing a prepayment amount in the demo above ☝️
- In the Anrok app
, go to Returns & payments. Take me there!
- Under the Action required tab, select a prepayment with a
status.
- Under Manually set payment amount, click Set prepayment amount.
- Under Prepayment amount, enter the amount.
- If needed, under Notes, enter a detailed reason for manually setting the payment amount.
- When finished, select Save, then click Confirm.
Note
Prepayments are auto-approved on the 8th of the month. After that point, the prepayment amount can no longer be edited.
