Overview
We are currently seeing an issue with Canada Federal GST/HST returns related to the CRA’s (Canada Revenue Agency) payment allocation system. While Anrok has filed and paid these GST/HST returns on time, the CRA’s system has not yet allocated some payments to the respective filing periods, resulting in notices indicating outstanding balances or missed payments despite Anrok having filed and submitted payments before the deadline.
This is a known processing lag on the CRA’s end that can take up to 90 days to resolve. We want to assure you that we have proof of all filings and payments submitted through our platform, and we use the same evidence with the CRA when resolving any balance or penalty issues on your behalf.
Actions you should take
Please keep sharing any CRA notices you receive with our notices team by contacting taxnotices@anrok.com or using our contact form. This helps us track the scope of the issue and address each case appropriately.
You can verify your filing information on the Returns & payments page by selecting “All” and then filtering the jurisdiction to “Canada Federal.” The return will show the filing date, payment amount, and confirmation that your return was submitted on time.
No additional payment is required from you. The balance shown on the CRA notice is due to a payment processing delay, not a missed payment. Your return was filed and paid on time.
Actions being taken by Anrok
Our team is actively working to resolve this situation by:
- Working directly with the CRA to confirm payment allocation and resolve outstanding balance notices on affected accounts
- Requesting payment reallocation from non-filing periods to the correct GST/HST filing periods where applicable
- Implementing improvements to our payment submission process to prevent similar allocation issues in the future, including wire description standardization and filing method updates
We want to assure you that:
- We have proof of all filings and payments submitted through our platform
- We can provide this documentation to the CRA to resolve any balance or penalty issues on your behalf
- The CRA’s payment processing delay can take up to 90 days to fully resolve, and we are monitoring all affected accounts throughout this period
If you have questions or receive notices related to this issue, please contact our notices team at taxnotices@anrok.com or use Anrok’s contact form. We understand this situation is inconvenient for your business, and we appreciate your patience as we work with the CRA to resolve this matter.
