Introduction

Archiving product IDsProduct ID
They describe the specific product or service that was sold to your customer. Product IDs are passed to Anrok from your billing system as the product(s) you are including on the invoice.

Each product ID you sell must be mapped to a corresponding tax configuration in Anrok, which signals what taxability ruleset to apply to the product. in Anrok involves the process of storing no longer utilized product IDs for future reference or retrieval. There are typically two reasons why you might want to archive a product ID:

1. You are no longer selling the product — You can easily archive the product in Anrok to end further usage of this product ID on future transactions. Archiving the product ID will not impact your past transactions.
2. The product's tax configuration needs to be changed — When a product ID is created in Anrok, you cannot change the taxability of a product ID once it has been created. To update a product's tax configuration, you will first need to archive the original tax configuration in Anrok. You can then set up the product ID with the updated tax configuration.

When a product ID has been archived in Anrok, the product ID’s name will be updated to reflect its archived status, along with the date and time was archived. For example, a product named REIMB when archived will be changed to REIMB_archived_2023-01-01T09:30:00Z.

Note: If a product ID has been archived and then reconfigured, past transactions that included the archived version will not have their taxability automatically updated. This ensures no past transactions are mistakenly impacted. If you need to update past transactions to include the new tax configuration, please contact support@anrok.com.
