Introduction
Anrok allows you to sync your billing and HR systems using our no-code integrations. Once you import and backfill your transactions and employee locations, you’ll be able to easily map your products to the right tax codes.
Integrate with your billing system
Integrating your billing systems with Anrok will allow you to monitor your existing economic nexus exposure, and add tax to new sales in real time. During the integration process, you’ll complete the following:
- Connect to your billing system — Anrok will connect directly to your billing system’s account to automatically synchronize transactions and update sales tax to your invoices.
- Assign tax configurations to your existing products — Your products and services will be added into Anrok as product IDsProduct ID
They describe the specific product or service that was sold to your customer. Product IDs are passed to Anrok from your billing system as the product(s) you are including on the invoice.
Each product ID you sell must be mapped to a corresponding tax configuration in Anrok, which signals what taxability ruleset to apply to the product. , then assigned tax configurations in Anrok. This will determine how these items are taxed in different jurisdictions. - Import historical transactions — Anrok will automatically complete a historical backfillHistorical Backfill
The process by which Anrok receives your historical transactions to get an accurate picture of your global economic nexus exposure. This process can be completed automatically (the most efficient method) or manually. of your billing system's transactions to get an accurate picture of your global economic nexus exposure.

Integrate with your HR system
Integrating your HR system with Anrok will allow you to monitor your existing physical nexus exposures. It will also automatically monitor employee locations and track potential exposures from new hires. During the integration process, you’ll complete the following:
- Connect to your HRIS system — Anrok uses Finch to connect to your HR systems and complete an employee backfill Employee Backfill
The process by which Anrok receives your employee locations to get an accurate picture of your global physical nexus exposure. This process can be completed automatically (the most efficient method) or manually.. Anrok with then automatically pull in employee location data regularly. If you are using Rippling, Anrok will connect using the Rippling App Management package. - Review possible exposure warnings — When a new hire is detected in a jurisdiction, Anrok will provide in-app alerts and send you an email.

Backfill your historical transactions manually
You can complete your company's historical backfillHistorical Backfill
The process by which Anrok receives your historical transactions to get an accurate picture of your global economic nexus exposure. This process can be completed automatically (the most efficient method) or manually. via a CSV import if you don’t have a compatible billing system, or if you have historical transactions recorded outside of your billing system. When completing your backfill, keep in mind that the standard lookback period for US jurisdictions is 3 years, but some jurisdictions will go back as far as 5 years.
Note: To complete your historical backfill, you can use the Anrok backfill template to structure your transaction data before uploading it to Anrok. See Complete the Anrok backfill template.

- In the Anrok app
, go to Data sources. Take me there!
- Select Import file, then drag and drop your CSV file or click Browse to upload.
- Once you see “
All looks good!”, click Continue.
- Under New products detected, select a corresponding Product type and Tax category for each product detected. See Select a tax configuration.
- If you'd like to assign a Product type and Tax category to multiple products at once, click the checkbox
next to each product, then select Batch assign.
- When you are finished, scroll down and click Continue.
- When your transactions have finished importing, select Mark complete.
Backfill your employee information manually

The process by which Anrok receives your employee locations to get an accurate picture of your global physical nexus exposure. This process can be completed automatically (the most efficient method) or manually. manually if you don’t have a compatible HR system, or if you have employee information records outside of your HR system.

- In the Anrok app
, go to Jurisdictions. Take me there!
- Click Manage physical nexus.
- Under Add jurisdiction, select a jurisdiction where you have an employee or property located, then enter the following information:
- Effective date — The earliest date you had an employee or property physically located in the jurisdiction.
- Notes — Any notes that will help you remember the reason for physical nexus (e.g. employee name, role, relocation, building name).
- If needed, click Add jurisdiction to add additional jurisdictions with physical nexus.
- When you are finished, click Save.
Now that you’ve connected your billing and HR systems to Anrok and backfilled your historical transactions and employee information, you can begin monitoring your exposure.
